Steve McCorquodale, Education Specialist at TSI World, looks at the ever changing world of education and ICT and notes the shift in how teaching staff learn about new ideas!

Yes it’s the David Bowie song! But every teacher across the land will recognise the reference! September 2014 is yet another landmark for education. Although published a year ago in September 2013 schools must begin the new academic year in September 2014 by teaching the statutory programmes of study and attainment targets for computing at key stages 1 to 4.

Despite having had a year to prepare some of our schools have indicated that many are still finding the implementation of the new ICT curriculum a major challenge and in particular the ‘c’ word… coding! However there is plenty of support, advice and training and CPD available to help overcome any barriers that may exist.

Much of this expertise and advice is just a click away via Twitter, still one of the best networking and CPD tools available to the teaching profession. If you haven’t explored its potential in developing teaching resources through expert help and tips then sign up today. Well worth it

In recent months one organisation has been at the forefront of developments through its online community and local networking hubs – The ‘Computing At School’ web site. The website may not seem an exciting place when you first encounter but dig deep into the site and you will be well rewarded with some of the excellent tips, advice and resources available. CPD at its best!
