Steve McCorquodale, Education Director at TSI World, starts a series of blogs on what was hot at BETT 2015.

Towards the end of January the annual education and technology jamboree that is BETT rolled into the Excel in London. BETT is a truly global phenomenon with the great and the good there in abundance and from all over the world. TSI World, of course, was there too searching for inspiration among the stands big and small; looking through the glitz and the gimmicks to find what really matters.

And what really matters are technologies with education at their very heart. ICT that enhances, motivates and inspires students and teachers with teaching and learning. It was heartening to note that this year there are a bewildering array of technologies to whet the educational appetite.

For many primary colleagues obtaining resources and support with the Computing Curriculum is still a major challenge. It was great to see so many resources available at BETT. One of our favourites, Switched on Computing by Rising Stars won the BETT award for Primary Digital Content written for the new curriculum, it offers creative units using the latest free software in a format that is designed for teachers of all levels of experience to pick up and use. Many of you are already reaping the benefits of this programme. If you haven’t seen it then check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Space prevents us from listing some of our other favourites but fear not we will from time to time be returning to the technologies that impressed us at BETT 2015.
